The GPS160 from Digital Yacht is a high performance positioning sensor using GPS, Galileo and Glonass satellite systems for exceptional positioning accuracies and redundancies. The new TriNav technology allows all three systems to be used simultaneously combining signals to compute the best possible fix accuracy and reliability.
Simple user configuration by use of internal dip switches allows the GPS160 to be easily programmed for a variety of modes such as single GNSS operation (eg Galileo only) as well as output configurations such as update rate, NMEA sentence structure etc.
The GPS160 also support an optional external MOB switch or device. When activated, the position is automatically saved and GPS160 calculates and outputs a “synthetic” AIS MOB NMEA sentence allowing compatible plotters to mark the MOB position automatically – just as if an AIS SART had been activated. The MOB function can be wired to a simple push button switch or a kill switch and tether or alternatively used with 3rd party wireless MOB systems with any switched alarm output. See the Digital Yacht GPS160 MOB Switch Panel.
The GPS160 TriNav is available with multiple interface options.
NMEA 0183
The GPS160 has a a 10 metre cable for standard NMEA 0183 output for connection to plotters, instruments and systems. Multiple formats of NMEA data output including datum information and 4800, 38400 and 115200 baud operation are easily configured through simple internal DIP switches.
USB
Supplied with a 5m cable. The GPS160USB is self powered from the USB source (PC, MAC or Linux). When installed, a virtual COM port is created on the host PC so navigation programs can receive positioning data. If a longer cable or the MOB feature is required, the standard NMEA 0183 version can be used with a NMEA-USB adaptor cable.
NMEA 2000
For connection to NMEA 2000 systems, the GPS160 is supplied with an iKonvert gateway. The thin NMEA 0183 cable supplied with the GPS160 is easy to route to the nearest point on the NMEA 2000 backbone where the iKonvert can be connected.
SeaTalk 1
For connection to legacy SeaTalk 1 systems, the GPS160 is supplied with an ST-NMEA Data Converter, allowing easy replacement of older Raystar sensors.
Wireless
For connection to smartphones and tablets the GPS160 is supplied with a WLN10 NMEA to wifi gateway.
