Even for experienced sailors gybing can be tricky if not performed correctly. An unexpected accidental gybe can be dangerous for the crew and cause damage to the boat and rigging. Gybeasy from Wichard provides a simple safety system which in the event of an accidental gybe controls the boom and avoids personal injury or damage.
Gybeasy is manufactured from anodised aluminium. It has a smooth surface and is attached to the boom midpoint with the included shackle. The special line, Gyb’Flex, which is also included is attached to a strong point a the midship point or led through a block and then to a winch or stopper. The line is passed through the Gybeasy to the opposite side of the boat. It has three different rigging options to allow for different conditions and sail sizes. The rigging options can be easily adjusted without removing the line. With the Gybeasy installed, in case of an accidental gybe the boom crosses the boat at a controlled speed.
Recommended for mainsails up to 40 m2.
