Victron Energy Orion Isolated Smart DC - DC Charger
Isolated DC to DC Smart charger/ converters with remote switching capability available for both 12v and 24v systems.
Bluetooth Smart built-in - allows wireless set-up, monitoring and control.
Fully programmable - Can be configured with one of the predetermined battery charge algorithms for DC to DC charging or configured with a fixed output as a DC to DC converter.
DC to DC converters can be used for multiple purposes on board including the following:
Remote on-off - a remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected to a two-pole connector.
Short circuit proof and parallel connection - an unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel to increase output current.
High temperature protected - the output current will reduce at high ambient temperature.
Use as a Dc to DC converter - Victron Energy Orion Smart chargers allow a wide voltage input and a stable user adjustable output making them ideal for use with sensitive DC equipment such as computers, displays, radio and electronic equipment and LEDs. Equipment such as computers are normally used with a mains power adaptor providing a constant stable DC output. These devices cannot be powered directly from on-board DC power due to the frequent large voltage changes typical onboard. A DC converter provides a stable DC output allowing their use on board. Isolated converters have no physical connection between input and output also allowing them to used to reduce electrical system interference typical on radio and electronic equipment.

Adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm: bulk – absorption – float
- For lead acid batteries it is important that during shallow discharges the absorption time
is kept short in order to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge the
absorption time is automatically increased to make sure that the battery is completely
recharged. - For lithium batteries absorption time is fixed, default 2 hours.
- Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be chosen
