A new concept in marine VHF, the Icom IC-M400BBE marine transceiver is designed in two parts. The RF "Black Box" unit can be installed out of sight, saving valuable space and avoidng theft and wear and tear from exposure to the elements. The multifunction control microphone, the COMMANDMIC™, HM-195 is installed in the cockpit or fly bridge and allows operation of all radio functions including DSC, radio, foghorn and hailer horn, when not used it is simply unplugged and stored below decks. A second COMMANDMIC™ option allows dual station and interphone use.
New Intuitive User Interface
The same new menu system as with Icom’s other new models. The bottom line of the dot-matrix display shows the software key functions which can be toggled with the left and right buttons.
Active Noise Cancelling Technology
The built-in bidirectional active noise cancelling reduces background noise to up to 90% and improves both your transmitted voice and incoming call. Hear and be heard more clearly especially in noisy surroundings.
10W Loud Audio, Hailer and Foghorn
The IC-M400BBE has a built-in 10W amplifier that increases the audio output up to 10w. If we add an optional external speaker we can use the public address function and foghorn features which allows you to make an announcement from the microphone or activate the automatic foghorn.
Optional COMMANDMIC™ IV HM-195B/SW
The optional COMMANDMIC™ IV makes it convenient for using the IC-M400BBE from the cockpit or flybridge and allows all functions of the IC-M400BBE to be controlled from the COMMANDMIC™which can also be used as an intercom with the IC-M400BBE.
Built-in Class D DSC
The IC-M400BBE meets the latest Class D regulation (ITU-R M493-13 and EN 300 338-3). The built-in DSC watch function monitors Ch. 70 (DSC channel) activity, even while you are receiving another channel. DSC functions include: distress, individual, group, all ships, urgency, safety, position request/report, polling request and DSC test calls.
Common NMEA GPS/NAV Interface
When connected to an external GPS receiver, current position and time are shown on the COMMANDMIC™ display. When receiving DSC position information from another vessel, the IC-M400BBE can transfer it to a navigational device via NMEA 0183 connectivity.
AIS Target Call with the Optional MA-510TR
When connected to the Icom’s MA-510TR Class B AIS Transponder, the AIS Target call function allows you to transmit DSC individual calls to a selected vessel instantly without manual MMSI entry saving valuable time in case of an emergency or possible collision
MarineCommander Compatible
When connected to the MarineCommander, the received DSC message pops up on the multi-function display.
IPX7 Waterproof Protection (1.0m depth for 30 minutes)
The IC-M400BB and HM-195B/SW withstand submersion in up to 1.0m depth of water for 30 minutes.
Favourite Channel Function
The favourite channel function allows you efficient scanning and quick channel selection. Set the favourite channel (★ mark) to the channels used most often. When pushing the up/down buttons on the hand microphone, only the tagged channels are selected, while unmarked channels are skipped. Normal and priority scan searches active channels from the favourite channels.
