Schenker ZEN Watermaker
Ultra efficient, ultra compact, energy recovery DC watermaker - 30 litres of fresh water for less than 10 Ah (12 V systems).
One of the world's most efficient watermakers. The ZEN series watermakers can be powered exclusively form solar, wind or hydrogenators and the compact modular design allows installation even in areas with limited space. The included compact multifunction control panel has just two buttons for simplicity and again for easy installation almost anywhere.
Ultra Efficient - by eliminating the high-pressure pump and using patented energy recovery technology, Schenker Zen series water makers achieve one of the highest efficiency rates available on the market. The Zen 30 can produce 30 litres of freshwater with an average power consumption of 110 W, 3.7 watts per litre. On a 12 V system at 12.5 V this is only 8.8 Ah. This incredible efficiency allows the water maker to be run with very little impact on daily power consumption and can easily be powered from solar or other alternative energy sources. Particularly important on smaller boats with limited space for additional solar panels.
DC Powered - Although AC powered water makers can produce a lot of fresh water, they need to be run off a generator or inverter. If these systems stop working, then you also lose your watermaker. A DC powered unit does not rely on any other equipment on board and therefore offers more redundancy. The Schenker Zen series water makers also require very little power only 110 w for the Zen 30 or 240 W for the Zen 50, allowing the units to run with very little impact on the DC system, not the case with AC watermakers powered from an inverter, or low efficiency DC system which can require up to 1000 W and can significantly load the DC system.
Ultra Compact - Zen series watermakers have two main assemblies, the pump assembly, as well as the filters and the watermaker assembly. This modular design allows the watermaker to be installed in tight spaces or spread out around the boat for easier installation. The watermaker assembly is slightly larger than a briefcase and can be installed either flat or upright.
Two Button Multifunction Remote Control Panel - the included remote-control panel has just two buttons with LED lights. The panel allows basic operation as well as initialization, fault indication, flushing, and a 1, 2, or 3 hour cycle with flushing at the end, just hold the ON button until the desired number of hours/beeps is heard and release.
Simple Installation - Thanks to the low power requirements the ZEN 30 and 50 can be connected directly to the DC system (fuse recommended) with small section electrical cables. The water inlet can also be attached to a preexisting 3/4" water inlet allowing installation in the water without the need for another seacock / hole in the bottom of the boat. Most items required are included in the box making installation as easy as possible. You will only need to supply a Sea Cock or T-connector if using an existing installation. Low pressure sea water inlet and discharge hose as well high-pressure sea water hose for connection between the pump assembly and watermaker assembly, hose clips as well the electrical cable. The length of these items depends very much on where the different components are installed.
