Selden GX Asymmetric Spinnaker Top Down Furler
The Seldén GX is a furling system for asymmetric spinnakers and cruising chutes.
Designed for quick setup and easy deployment, the Selden GX makes spinnaker handling fun and enjoyable for everyone on board and a relief for those familiar with the sock!
It consists of a line driver drum attached to a anti-torsion AT line and two swivels. A top halyard swivel and a bottom tack swivel. The sail is attached to the top halyard swivel and to the bottom tack swivel at the base, it is not attached to the anti-torsion line. With the sail deployed, a continuous line is used to turn the line driver drum. This turns the anti-torsion line which turns the top halyard swivel leaving the bottom tack swivel to rotate freely. The effect is a compact furl starting at the top of the sail and progressing downwards as we continue to pull the continuous line. A neat tightly furled sail is the result ready to be packed away below decks or into a sail bag. The Line driver drum features a quick connect snap shackle for easy attachment to a bow fitting or bowsprit. To deploy the sail, connect a halyard to the top fitting, attach the drum to the bow hoist the furled sail and pull on the sheets, the sail unfurls from bottom to top in a controlled operation. The sheets can be left attached and furled ready for use and the continuous line can be left short for use on the fore deck or run by to the cockpit.
High strength duplex stainless steel
All structural parts are made of high strength duplex stainless steel, which has 50% greater breaking load than 316 stainless steel.
Composite parts are glass-fibre/PA for strength and low weight.

- Impact resistant composite cover keeps the line captive and prevents damage to the boat during handling
- Tried and tested line driver as used on the CX furlers with metal teeth provides ample grip on the furling line
- Narrow line drive fitting leads the line into the driver and ensures good grip.
- Snap shackle included for easy handling
Each drum size is available with different AT line lengths. To order, measure the maximum length required on board from the top of the halyard to the bow fitting and order the length accordingly. The anti-torsion line is then cut to final length on board and installed with the included Line Lock Terminals at the halyard swivel and tack swivel (see instructions in video at the bottom of the page and in the Attachments & Downloads tab).
Continuous control lines are purchased separately according personal preferences and boat design, they are available in different lengths or alternatively made to measure on board.
The Selden GX Furler includes the top swivel, the tack swivel and drum a dyneema sail attachment line and the anti-torsion AT line.
