Microprocessor controlled heavy duty relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when charging.
Available in 120A and 230A models and suitable for both 12V and 24V systems. The Cyrix-ct has virtually no voltage loss allowing two battery banks to be charged from one charging source and is a perfect alternative to diode isolators and split chargers which can cause a voltage drop causing reduced charging efficiency. Ideal to connect, start batteries, house batteries and bow thruster batteries.
Bidirectional voltage sensing
The Victron Energy Cyrix Battery Combiner detects the voltage in both battery banks allowing multiple charging sources such as alternators, shore power chargers, wind generators and solar panels connected to different batteries to charge both batteries. When the battery voltage in one of the battery banks reaches a pre set level the Cyrix-ct automatically connects the batteries in parallel allowing both to charge. When turning off the charging source, the voltage decreases below float level (indicating that one or more batteries are being discharged) and the Cyrix Battery Combiners isolates the batteries.
Inteligente voltage sensing
Other combiners (also called voltage controlled relay, or split charge relay) simply detect voltage changes. In the case of a short but high amperage load or the voltage drop after connecting a large but discharged battery the voltage immediately drops below the disengage value causing a disconnect. The intelligent software of the Cyrix-ct 12/24 does more than simply connect and disconnect based on battery voltage and with a fixed time delay. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 looks at the general trend (voltage increasing or decreasing) and reverses a previous action only if the trend has reversed during a certain period of time. The time delay depends on the voltage deviation from the trend.
Power supply from both batteries
The Cyrix-ct 12/24 has a dual power supply. It will therefore also close if the voltage on one battery is too low to operate the Cyrix. In order to prevent unexpected operation during installation or when one battery has been disconnected, the Cyrix-ct 12/24 will not close if the voltage on one of the two battery connections is lower than 2 V (12 V battery) or 4 V (24 V battery).
Emergency parallel push button function (Start Assist)
The Cyrix can also be engaged with a remote push button (Cyrix remains engaged during 30 seconds) or a switch to connect batteries in parallel manually. This is especially useful in case of emergency when the starter battery is discharged or damaged.
